Definitions:In-Character (IC): Roleplaying your actual character within our server. In general this includes anything you do/write in the LOCAL channel or IC forum sections.
Out-Of-Character (OOC): Anything that is said outside of the actual game. This includes the GLOBAL channel ingame and any forum sections that are not specifically classified as IC.
Meta-gaming: Transferring OOC knowledge into the IC gameworld. (This might be rather 'unimportant' things such as speaking about RL news ingame, but also 'knowing' that somoene is a bandit because you read it on the forums etc.)

0. If you want to play because you purely want to kill other players, raid their village or just build a giant castle somewhere we discourage you from playing here! The focus will be on roleplay between the factions. Wars will be possible and there will also be event and tournaments to fight in, but this isn't our main focus. Players who search for a pure PvP experience will probably not find what they search for.1. Randomly killing or attacking people without providing the chance of avoiding this by roleplay will lead to quick exclusion from our community.1.1 You may not run away wthout roleplay when you are CLEARLY approached by other players with their weapons drawn.
1.1.1 When bandits/a warring faction approaches a player that wears lighter armour a fair chance to run away should be given after initiating RP. If we catch people putting their armor on seconds before a fight starts because of this rule harsh punishment will follow.
Wrong example:
*Jim runs up to another player and kills him for loot*
*Bandits in plate armour attack a farmer in linen clothing and chase him for hours*
Correct excample:
*Jim runs up to another player and threatens to attack him if he doesn't drop anything he has. Since the other player does so Jim takes the loot and then runs away with it*
*Bandits in plate armour attack a farmer but fail to chase him as he runs away in linen clothing*
2. The only instance in which you may grab items/resources from another faction in any way is if you are in a war and you have given the enemy a chance to defend it. (Attacking at 3 AM in the night when just one farmer is there does not count!) Not following this rule will lead to immediate exclusion.
2.1 If it is clear that one faction tries to avoid this fight in order not to loose a war they started the admins may lift this rule for that case.
Wrong example:
*Faction A attacks Faction B when all of their members just logged of for dinner and steal all their resources.*
Correct example:
*Faction A announces an attack in global channel (global may be used for this, ex: "The troops of faction A are seen marching towards the lands of faction B".), they meet on the field of battle and Faciton B looses the fight, they then raid their village and take all their metal tools and nails with them.*
3. Wars may only be declared with the consent of both factions initiating or if there was a rightful reason to do so. (For example a faction was stealing from the mine of another and there is proof to this claim). If both factions agree a simple war declaration in the forums signed by two representatives is sufficient. If this is not the case you have to go to the High Council IC and request a valid casus belli. (No metagame will happen here. If people claim it IC and it didnt happen OOC then that should be cleared with the staff so no bad blood arises.)
4. Although factions may wage war with each other, if the High Council notices that one of the factions is heavily loosing it may end the war and negotiate a contract between the two factions that will of course favour the winners. This will mostly be done IC but may be resolved OOC if needed.
5. Directly attacking the Duchy is not permitted as it is used as a mediating faction and RP-hub, however the mightier factions of the server may gain positions in the council.
6. Settlements of players may be founded at any time, however we encourage IC roleplay when doing so! In order to gain IC and OOC rights we recommend you to apply for becoming an official faction!6.1 A minimum of 2 active players can form a
farm if they have already built a small hut or similiar things. Applying for a farm will give limited mining rights to the settlement. Farms can officially post about their settlement in a specific forum section. Pallisades and other wooden fences may be built for defense.
6.2 When you have a few houses and 4 active players you may apply to become a
village. Villages gain full mining rights for a designated area, can be fully autonomous and have limited voting right in the Duchy. From this point you can form your own faction and invite farms to join you which will count towards your active player count. Stone walls may be built to defend it.
6.3 Once you hit 6 active players you can form a
county. The Duke (faction leader) will have full voting rights in the Duchy. Keeps and castle walls may only be built in county's or the duchy. County's may have several villages underneath them. Counties may build military outposts and guard posts. They may also request the right to recieve a second noble title, and by this might be allowed a second castle and knight depending on their numbers.
7. Nobles and formal positions in the Duchy will always be appointed by the High Council. Leaders of a County will always be a Count.
Note 1: Mining rightsSingle citizen:
May request mining rights ICly from the Duchy. This will be noted in a thread and allow the citizen to mine in the designated areas of the Duchy.
Farm:
May request mining rights ICly from the Duchy. All citizens from the farm may mine in the designated area of the Duchy/Nearby mine.
NOTE: This may also allow Farms to mine at area's that are already in the area of influence of villages or counties. If this is the case they may not use their mines and are asked to mine in a different sector of the hill.
Village:
May ask for an increase in the designated area and can grant farms the right to mine in their area. They still don't own the piece of land and if others are assigned the same designated area they are not allowed to chase them off or similiar things. If people use their mines or directly access their resources though the High Council may be asked to investigate.
County:
Can grant villages and farms to mine on their country. The duchy can assign mining areas to their villages and farms if they have the mining rights to that area but the council may still allow others to use the same resources if there is no other way.
Note 2: Building Rights!!!IMPORTANT!!!!
Regarding farmplots: Please keep it to a reasonable amount! Being a single guy settling somewhere and taking up the space for 20 houses just for farming is NOT reasonable!
Regarding fences: We know skilling construction is hard, we will give anyone a mallet who seriously wants to get into this skill to make it easier for you to skill it without spamming the whole map with fences.
Single citizen:
May contrusct any basic building or furniture aswell as houses and fences but no wooden or stone defences.
Farm:
All the above and wooden defences.
Village:
All the above and stone defenses.
County:
All the above and castle walls & keeps.
Note 3: Armor RightsOnly nobles are allowed to wear plate armour. All other types of armour (chain, leather, scale and padded) are free to use by anyone else.
If you for example want to wear chainmail but cant raise the warhorse handling skill because you cannot do so right now then make a request in the "Cititzen requests" board. We will then set that required skill to 60 for you. Please make sure you actually have enough skill space in your combat skills, if you do not this will cause your character to be unplayable!
